Nestled in Puerto Cancún’s marine environment and mangroves, Espacio is a mixed-use development that aims to be the heart of the city’s growth. Its “U”-shaped primary structure features a ground-floor public plaza, providing a shaded communal space. Below this, a passageway leads to a secondary plaza for the “Gourmet Pavilion,” where the contrast between the building’s straight lines and the pavilion’s curves frames the Caribbean sky.
The ground floor showcases cut stone, anchoring the structure to its natural surroundings, while the upper levels are enveloped in a wooden lattice that creates a dynamic play of light and shadow. The transparent upper floors allow natural light to enhance panoramic views and integrate the building with the adjacent mangroves and marine environment, establishing Espacio as a unique convergence of architecture and nature in the new city center.
